Since we had a very relaxing stay during our time in Nice, food became a real highlight. There are two amazing restaurants we visited in Old Nice which were both amazing and worth sharing.
Oliviera is a great restaurant focusing on amazing olive oils. Every dish served (including appetizers and desserts) has it’s own unique olive oil paired with it to really bring out the flavours. The owner is there every night serving all the tables himself and sharing his true passion for not only olive oil but locally grown produce. We had a feta cheese and fig appetizer which was truly outstanding. He told us that he goes each morning very early to get the figs before they go on sale at the market so that he can ensure they have the best ones for the restaurant. You can really taste the quality in every bite at Oliviera. My only caution is to not expect quick service. This man is on his own with a very busy restaurant to look after so it is not the place to go if you are in a rush. Reservations are required most nights, but can easily be made a day or two before. This restaurant excepts cash only.
L’Archairdo was recommended to us by a tour guide as a great place for tourists and locals alike. As soon as we walked up to the very busy restaurant, we saw a couple with the Rick Steve’s guide to France and knew we must be in a good place. The couple, who were also Canadian were just leaving, and by luck we were able to snatch up their outdoor table and enjoy one of the best meals we had in France. Our meals were simple but elegant and delicious. I definitely recommend the steak as they sure know how to cook it perfectly! Unfortunately, I can’t find a website for this restaurant, however it is located at 38 Rue Droite in Old Nice.
